Day 9 – I have ridden through the Valley of Death and come out the other side

This afternoon I meet my brother and his family, and my middle son and his girlfriend in Vegas. If everything goes to plan, I’ll get a hot shower, soft comfy bed with clean sheets, ice cold veers and be entertained by Jeff Dunham and his puppets.

It was a great day. Death Valley is beautiful in it’s own special way, but like Reno, I sure wouldn’t choose to live there. Nor do many other people. Nothing special to report on this ride, it was hot, windy, semi-beautiful and I had to wear my full face helmet because I sunburned my lower lip. I brought the full face helmet because I knew I’d hit rain at one point, never ,ever thought that I’d need it for shade protection!

I’s nice to meet up with Matt, Beth, Josh, Chris, Ben and Katie. And I’m especially pleased that the long rides are over until I turn to head home in early August. According to Mapquest it’s 1,165 miles from Seattle to Las Vegas. I clocked 3,226 miles, had some outstanding riding, have some great pictures, snagged 8 Oregon Dams and the two California Bonus Dams and am looking forward to the part of the vacation where we move every couple of days!

Mileage – 200/3226 cumulative

Best thing – I made it to Vegas safely!

Challenge for the day – nothing!
